For those of you who were into gaming on ye' ole computer say around 1996-2001 surely can remember the endless nights playing FPSs likes Unreal and Quake. Quake III Arena is one of those games that I (synn76) played A LOT of. Between the near limitless mods, maps and skins many a Mountain Dew induced nights went into playing this game either after hours at work (don't think we didn't have work tournaments) or at home. This is why I was happy to find out that id Software will be releasing Quake Live as a stand alone game by the end of this year due to the changing way the web works. Granted it will no long support Mac and Linux but it will be nice to see the old war horse back out in the field. Here's some more info from Joystiq.
